Layout Design Bootcamp – Episode 14 – CD Cover / Label Design

Welcome to episode 14 of Layout Design Bootcamp where my goal is to take you through entire design layouts to show you the exact process of how it’s done. In this 14th episode, I continued to implement the brand of “Nautical Noon” that I developed in Logo Design Bootcamp Episode number 14. I decided to design a CD set, that included 3 different CD’s with different labels as well as the insert for the CD sleeve. This tutorial will teach you so many things including:

professional cd template design
  • Understanding a CD template
  • Using Photoshop for images
  • Photoshop layer styles
  • Clipping masks
  • Opacities and transparencies
  • Type on a path tool
  • Radial gradients
  • Adding a bleed for print
  • Finalizing/Saving template
  • and much more!!

  1. Hi my name is Ebony. I am trying to create a template for a cd label. I don’t know where to start. I saw your video on you tube about Nautical Noon and I enjoyed it! I just need to know how to set up a template in illustrator. I also will be printing it using my laserprinter. Can you show me how?
